Simple Voicemail replaces your carrier's voicemail with something better. When you miss a call, the caller hears your greeting and leaves a message just like always. We record it, transcribe it to text, and email you both within seconds. Every message is also waiting in your web inbox, where you can listen, download, and keep it for as long as you want.

There is no app to install and nothing new to learn. If you can read email, you can use Simple Voicemail. Setup takes a few minutes and works on any carrier, including the prepaid and budget carriers that do not offer visual voicemail at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

No. You keep your number and nothing changes for the people who call you. Your phone quietly forwards missed calls to your voicemail box behind the scenes.

A few minutes. After you sign up, the setup guide shows the exact forwarding code to dial for your carrier. You dial it once, your carrier confirms, and you are done.

It stops picking up. Missed calls forward to Simple Voicemail before your carrier's voicemail can answer, so the old dial-in system (and its PIN) never bothers you again.

Yes. Every new account starts with a 14 day free trial, and no credit card is required to sign up. If you like the service, it is $6 per month after that. And if you need more time to decide, just ask through the contact page and we will happily extend your trial.

Just your email address and your phone number. No credit card, and nothing to download.

Everyday Use

The recording as an MP3 attachment, a full text transcript, and the caller's name, number, and location when available. You can read the whole message without playing anything.

Usually within seconds of the caller hanging up. Long messages can take a little extra time because of the transcription step.

Yes. You can record a greeting right in your browser or upload an audio file under Settings. Until you do, callers hear our default greeting.

Yes. Turn off voicemail retention in Settings and we will email each message to you without keeping a copy. Your email inbox becomes the only place the voicemail exists.

The simplest way is to sign up with an email distribution group or a shared inbox. Everyone in the group gets every voicemail the moment it arrives.

Transcription supports messages up to two minutes long, which is more than enough for almost every voicemail.

Phones and Carriers

It works with any carrier that supports conditional call forwarding, which is nearly all of them, including most prepaid and budget carriers. If it turns out yours does not, contact us within the first 30 days and we will refund you in full.

No. Call forwarding is a carrier feature, not a phone feature, so any phone works. The setup guide has specific steps for iPhone, Android, and plain dial codes.

Yes. Only the calls you do not answer are forwarded. Nothing about how your phone rings or how you make calls changes.

Sometimes. Some visual voicemail apps grab the call before forwarding kicks in. The setup guide shows you how to test your setup, and turning the old voicemail off is usually a single setting.

Simple Voicemail currently supports US phone numbers only.

Billing

$6 per month, flat. Unlimited voicemails, transcription included, no tiers, and no surprise fees.

If you have not upgraded, we stop answering your missed calls until you do. Everything already emailed to you or saved in your inbox stays yours. Upgrading from Settings restores service immediately. If you just need more time to decide, reach out through the contact page and we will gladly extend your trial.

Open the Plan tab in Settings and choose Manage Billing to cancel. You keep service through the end of the period you paid for. You can also close your account entirely from the same tab.

Privacy and Security

Only you. Even our own admin tools are deliberately built without the ability to play recordings or read transcripts. We can see that a message exists, not what is in it.

Never. Your information is used only to run the service. The only third parties involved are the providers we need to operate, such as telephony, email delivery, and storage. The privacy policy has the details.

Recordings work in any language, but transcription is English only for now.

Yes. Delete any voicemail from your web inbox at any time, or close your account in Settings to erase everything we have.
